CLASSES

Entrenched players have the opportunity to pick from 1 of 8 separate classes; each class giving them wholly unique abilities, skills, and proficiencies. All classes have a particular niche they can fill, with successful bands being composed of different class members.

The Blitz

Clad in a heavy coat and donning a great cap, the Blitz acts as a party’s officer, utilizing the iconic trench whistle. By using a variety of different tones, the Blitz can grant their allies with all manner of buffs and powers. But beware, if you find yourself up against a Blitz, the whistle can just as well be used against the enemy too.

“Iconic are the echoes of gunfire and the roar of bombs, but no sound is as infamous as those of the blaring whistles.”

The Conjurer

Heretical magi from the far corners of the continent, bestowed upon with great and terrible power by either demons or the Trench Pagan gods. Carrying either a tome, a grimoire, or a shred of skin scrawled upon with ancient magics, the Conjurer may use this item to cast horrid spells and curses. Once reviled by society, the increased tensions during the Years of Agony have brought them more attention, Conjurers finding themselves within the hulls of tanks or battleships - a “tank mage” being a common profession.

“Few in number are they, but highly sought after as well - be it for gains of power or for brutal retribution.”

The Infiltrator

Fearless vanguards, the Infiltrator acts as both a tank and a grenadier - charging the front with reckless abandon. Their vestments, reinforced with protective padding, prevents them from falling pray to both shrapnel and suppression. A single Infiltrator can be key to breaking any stalemate.

“Baptized through the flames of war and hardened under the rain of steel, truly are they warriors of legendary renown, but so too are they remembered for their monstrous savagery.”

The Medic

In this day and age, there has never been a man more foolish than one to refuse the services of a Medic. The Medic, serving as guardians against certain death, possess the skill to heal any downed allies - giving out plasma so they may fight another day. Their aprons, treated with much anti-bacterial materials, allows them to descend into even the most foul mires of the Trenchscape. While seen as heroes amongst the bleak lands, they are also the first to be targeted by enemy combatants; for there has never been a man more foolish than one not to take out an enemy Medic first.

“Even amongst the lands of the dying, do many yet still grasp for life; it is by their hand that those who may die find rejuvenation and revival.”

The Pastor

Scholars of the deeper nature of reality, Pastors use their knowledge of the divine to heal the anguishes of man, calling upon their god to save the sinner and cleanse heresy. Unlike their grimoire-wielding counterparts, the Pastor uses their prayer book to exercise the maladies of shellshock from those they speak with; also having the ability to perform miracles - if seen fit by their god.

“As the darkness of war sweeps forward and cascades the world, it is then that men desire the guidance of God; through them, God’s light shines forth, destroying the dark shroud.”

A special thanks to Grandpa Louis, who inspired this class; who brought his company closer to God when battling through Italy, Austria, and Germany.

The Runner

Even being but a mere five paces away, one might not even detect the presence of a Runner. Being brought up in the arts of assassination, espionage, theft, and secrecy by hidden underground cults, Runners are highly prized for these attributes. Even in the tightest of defenses, Runners will find a passage or make a passage through. Many a warlord has found his downfall, not by the might of an opposing army, but by a single Runner and a well placed shot.

“Even under the watchful eyes of their adversaries, they remain hidden, passing by, undetected, across the enemy’s lines.”

The Skirmisher

The main force of any respectable army - land cannot be properly taken and secured without a force of Skirmishers. It is the Skirmisher, the man-at-arms, who charges forth; clearing a gathering of enemies with a single blast from their shotgun; swinging their spiked club against those not yet dead, as they make their way down the trench; and destroying the enemy headquarters with a bundle of ticking grenades. Trained for all manner of combat and acting fast, they are versatile and dexterous, a truly dangerous combination.

“It was they who stormed the enemy trench, they who bore the brunt of the attack, and they who died for their homes; lest we forget.”

The Technician

The rulers of the great engines of war, whose fiery breath is at their beckoned call. The Technician serves a variety of rolls, from commanding great war machines, placing fortifications and defenses upon the battlefield, and repairing and improving both armors and weapons. They are masters of both offensive and defensive warfare, and it is the Technician who controls the flow of battle. There has been just as many great fortresses withstanding the advances of an enemy for hundreds of years, as there has been many great fortresses brought to ruin with their defenses being finally breeched; all thanks to a clever Technician.

“They are the masters of iron and the lords of steel, for it is by them and by their hand alone that the beasts of fire and metal roam the land.”
